Relatively new to the Beringer portfolio, the Distinction Series wines highlight particularly unique vineyard sites or blends. Featuring wines such as Quantum Red Blend, Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Luminus Chardonnay, this collection allows Chief Winemaker Mark Beringer to take risks, experiment, and explore new, innovative ways of working with our vineyard sites.

Quantum Red 2013

When tiny quantum units combine, they create systems of immense value and complexity. Similarly, when grape varietals combine, each lends its unique flavor and structure, to create wine with great depth and expression. The 2013 Quantum offers aromatic notes of dark cherry, espresso, tobacco, and leather. Notes of ripe plum, vanilla, and boysenberry jam are accented by subtle brown spice. It is a rich, fleshy wine with silken tannins and a lush, rounded profile.

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (72%), Merlot (9%)

Cabernet Franc (9%), Petite Sirah (5%), Malbec (5%).

Beringer Oak Knoll Luminus
Chardonnay 2014

Meaning “light” in Latin, Luminus naturally represents the radiance of this Chardonnay. Like the brightness and purity that the name conjures, Chardonnay from the Oak Knoll district is known for its uncommon focus. The Chardonnay fruit from the Big Ranch Vineyard is known for its elegance and balance and Chief Winemaker Mark Beringer has always gravitated towards this acid-driven, food-friendly style of Chardonnay.

The end-product has a striking purity of fruit, and showcasing bright citrus characteristics and a beautiful minerality. It has a robust acidity, notes of lemon pith, almond extract, and a silky, elegant texture. It also exhibits pineapple, poached pear, honeysuckle and buttery melon notes in addition to a subtle use of wood, and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel

Robert Parker (Wine Spectator) – 92 points

"There's an honest suggestion of bacon and eggs at first in this wine, which follows with a tangy entry that sizzles on the palate. Full, luscious and honeyed in oak, it's a powerful expression that's also balanced between fruit and nuance."
