Brand's Heritage

In the late 1970’s, during a wine-buying trip for their hotel/casino, couple Rhonda and Don visited Sonoma County, California. The captivating landscape of the county greatly reminded them of the beautiful landscapes of Italy: They were in love. This marked the beginning of the Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery.

From a small, 30-acre plot of grapes to the present 24 estate vineyards in six different appellations, Don and Rhonda Carano's uncompromising commitment to quality is a reflection of their desire to produce memorable wines that enhance the pleasures of gracious entertaining, vintage after vintage. Today, Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery is a leading producer of world-class, nationally-acclaimed wines.

World-class Wine

Great admirers of European wines, Don and Rhonda Carano firmly believed in the separate vinification and subsequent blending small lots of wine from individual section of the any one vineyard that displays a set of characteristics different from one another. As proof, its Alexander Valley Chardonnay has never received less than a “90” rating from the Wine Spectator.

The Ferrari-Carano vineyard practices are customized to match the particular characteristics of each their vineyards. These help the vines produce the best fruit possible, and in turn, the best wine possible. To achieve this, they have continuously practiced sustainable farming techniques and are considered a leading industry standard. This has earned them the coveted Certifications: Certification of Fish Friendly Farming by the state of California and Certification of California Sustainable Vineyard.

Ferrari Carano Fume Blanc
2015 Sonoma County

Ferrari-Carano’s 2015 Fumé Blanc is a delicious wine with aromas and flavors of pink grapefruit, pineapple, lemon grass, lychee, kiwi, honey dew, orange blossom, guava, white peach and lemon-lime with a touch of minerality. This wine has bright acidity and crisp freshness from the cool, stainless steel tank fermentation, while the subtle oak character from neutral French oak barrels adds body, complexity and depth. Finally, a cap closure has been used to capture the purity of flavors and freshness.

This pairs well with simple seafood and poultry dishes, and also holds up nicely with white meats such as veal and pork. This wine has lively flavors that go well with spicy and ethnic cuisines such as Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Korean, Mexican and Southwestern dishes.

The Wine Enthusiast – 90 points

"With searing, upfront acidity, this wine takes on a briny character that accents the high-toned lemon zest and melon notes on the palate. Aged only in old French oak and stainless steel, its fruit remains fresh and unencumbered through the finish."

Ferrari Carano Tresor
2012 Alexander Valley

A blend of the classic Bordeaux varietals – Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Vibrant aromas and flavors of fresh blackberry jam, cassis, cedar, anise, blueberry, spiced rum, coffee and caramel combine with a rich mid-palate with round tannins. This wine’s upfront silkiness and roundness make for a delicious selection now and will drink well for 15-20 years.

The Ferrari Carano Trésor complements lamb, beef and duck dishes that are roasted or braised. Try Trésor with strong-flavored cheeses such as Gorgonzola and sharp Cheddar.

Blend: 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot

7% Malbec, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc

Winereviewonline.com (Robert Whitley) – 94 points

“The 2012 vintage was kind to Ferrari-Carano and they were able to ripen all five Bordeaux grape varieties that go into the Trésor blend. The result is a spectacular vintage that shows deep notes of black fruits and spice, a fleshy and generous palate, and structure enough to ensure this wine will continue to improve over the next eight to ten years.”

The Wine Enthusiast (Virginie Boone) – 90 points

“This juicy, full-bodied blend holds several Bordeaux red varieties, with Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. Smooth and soft, it dances elegantly in clove, black currant and licorice, exhibiting both structure and weight. It finishes lengthy in more of that clove.”

The California Grapevine – 90 points

“Medium to medium-dark ruby; attractive, spicy, cedary, black cherry and blackberry fruit aroma with notes of cassis and dried herbs; full body; herbal, cedary blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors with some richness and suppleness in the silky mouthfeel; medium-full to full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very highly
